About this Opportunity
BMG has an exciting faced paced opportunity working on many new projects for a Paper Product Development Engineer for our growing fiber-based business! This position can be located at any of our USA sites – Fremont, OH; Knoxville, TN or Beaverton, MI.
We will consider a remote position for the right candidate experience.
The Paper Product Design Engineer will be an integral member in driving the new product innovation as well as assisting in mechanical/tooling designs and modifications related to paper packaging forming.
The engineer will also provide technical assistance for solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, and tooling.
This position works closely with our engineering and marketing departments.
The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience of paper properties and applications for designing paper products and the ability to design tooling to produce those products.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the design and participate in design reviews of various sections within the equipment and tooling to meet required specifications.
Research paper/materials technology for opportunities to develop new products.
Complete research needed for processing and forming paper (i.
e.
raw materials, chemistry, and extensibility of paper related to forming).
Develop testing plans and data tables for analyzing with engineering staff.
Develop paper tooling and technical process standards for the paper product line.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read and interpret work orders and specifications.
Assist Marketing and Manufacturing departments on product design and production.
Provide input on job estimates and market sizing for new products as required.
Help with concept and layout drawings as well as drawing changes to ensure design meets accepted engineering standards and project requirements.
Participate in design reviews for evaluation of work order requirements.
Assist in representing the design team in customer and final design reviews.
Ensure design considerations, concepts and calculations are documented and filed.
Direct various design activities on assigned projects.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering and/or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of fiber-based materials.
Knowledge of 3D CAD software and analysis tools
Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to develop new product and resolve problems.
Willingness to travel 15% as required for the role.
A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis.
